Chequers 2008

  The Chequers Challenge Ploughing Match was held on Saturday 1st November 2008 at Redway Farm by kind permission of Mr James.
  Number of competitors who ploughed - 32
  Weather conditions - Very wet
  The competition has grown in popularity since it was initiated by Richard Holmes, landlord of the Chequers Inn, in 1999. This year, the competition was split into two classes, trailer ploughs and mounted ploughs. Two trophies were kindly donated from "Mr Skippy" for best work done by a trailer plough and the other from "Stephen Peachey" for best work done with a mounted plough.

  The overall winner - with most points was John Stallard of Apse Heath. He received an engraved plate and a free meal at the Chequers Inn. 
  The judges for Saturdays match were Mr Mike Morris and Mr Paul Trickett, who did a great job considering just how bad the weather was.
